Plane rides are exciting because you’re off to a new destination, but sometimes they can be excruciatingly boring. Here’s a couple things you can do to pass the time and make the flight a little more enjoyable.

Listen to a Podcast

Podcasts are all the rage, and if you haven’t downloaded the Podcast App (or any of the other apps that allow you to listen) you’re totally missing out. Podcasts are great because they are FREE, they come in every genre imaginable and they are easy to take on the go. Catch up on all our favorite episodes, or binge a brand new one on your flight. Just download the episodes you want to listen to, pop your ear buds in and enjoy the ride. Learn a Language

For those of us who aren’t bilingual, learning a new language seems like a daunting task. Do I have to take a class? Do I have to buy a super expensive program? Well you’re in luck because learning a new language is right at your fingertips! Duolingo the perfect app to help you learn a new language or just brush up on one. We aren’t saying you can learn the entire Spanish language in a 4 hour flight, but you can get it a jump start on it! The app allows you to learn all the basics and lets you practice in automated conversation. You’ve got nothing better to do on that long flight, might as well be learning!

Listen to an Audio Book

Audio books are great. You don’t have to worry about motion sickness and you can get immersed in another world on your flight. Audible.com is a great place to listen to audiobooks, and you even get your first one FREE!

Clean Up Your Devices

Ever look at your phone (or computer) and realize you have a gazillion files and photos that you never look at? Take this time you have to sift through those old photos. Delete the duplicates and old screenshots you no longer need and make space for new photos from your trip! You can also organize your apps and clean up your contacts. By the time you land your phone will feel good as new.

Watch a Movie (or binge a show)

Some airlines will have in flight entertainment, while others will not. If you’re lucky enough to have WiFi, take advantage of that and watch a movie that has your eye, or binge a show you’ve been meaning to catch up on. If WiFi isn’t an option, you can download movies from Netflix, or purchase them to watch offline from other sources.

Play a Game

We all have a game or two on our phones, and most of us never play them. We just don’t have time in our busy lives and the free time we do have isn’t usually spent on a phone game. Now is the time to indulge yourself and play one! You have hours to kill and no one can judge you. There are tons of free (and paid) games on the App Store, so pick one and play the day away. Some games we suggest are:

Read a Book

If you’ve finally gotten sick of your phone, there’s nothing better than picking up a good old fashion book. It doesn’t need a charger and book batteries never die (unless you use a Kindle...but that’s not what we are talking about.) You could read a travel book about your destination, or about travel in general. You could read one of the Best Books of 2018, or you could take the classic route and read Eat, Pray, Love. Whatever you decide, take a book that fits easily in your carry on and enjoy the flight.

Sleep

Don’t feel like playing around on your phone or getting swept away by books and movies? There’s always the option to sleep.
